I’m on day five of my first pilgrimage to Colonia from the bubble. I’m amazed at what I’ve learned in such a short time.

I’ve been playing pretty much nonstop since March, but it’s all been in the bubble. I always had an objective or task at hand that needed doing. I’ve been wanting to head to Colonia for a while but have been putting it off. Last week I decided it was time. So I got a FC route from Spansh and headed out. But I decided not to ride on the carrier. I’ve been following behind 55LY at a time, seeing what there is to see.

I started looking up things to see along the way on EDDB. Anything that corresponded with the FC route was fair game. I began zig-zagging behind my carrier hitting the sites. I quickly began to encounter unexplored systems. I quickly realized I had nowhere specific to be so each sector became a quest. I started scanning everything I encountered. There was no rush to get to the next sector.

I began to find the relaxing nature of exploration. With no agenda or deadline, I’ve began to enjoy just being out in the black. What will I see next? Every few thousand light years I’ll stop back at the FC to repair and top up the tritium, but mostly I’m just out seeing things.

I suppose the comfort of knowing the carrier is never too far away makes it feel safe, but I am really beginning to enjoy the solitude.
