I believe the main reason that Crypto is underpowered is because all 3 of his abilities (Passive, Tactical, and Ultimate) are all tied to his Drone, which leaves you vulnerable when in use. Here are some changes that could put Crypto on par with other Legends:

New Passive – Hacker

This ability would allow Crypto to recover teammate’s banners after they have timed out. He would also be able to reactivate Spawn Beacons that have already been used. Maybe he could even hack into Survey Beacons, too.

Tactical Ability Changes

Crypto’s Tactical Ability is his Drone. His Passive is his ability to scan enemies with his Drone. I believe his current Passive should just be a built-in function of his Tactical. This would open up the space for the Hacker Passive that I mentioned. However, I don’t think that would be enough to make his tactical that much better. Personally I would like to see the Drone HP and Scan Range increased. Because as it is now, you have to be really close in order to scan enemies, which makes it easy for the drone to be destroyed, especially considering it only takes one bullet. Also, if the range of his Drone Scan was increased, you could essentially set it up as a security camera to watch certain areas.

Ultimate Ability Changes

The biggest problem with Crypto’s Ultimate is that you can only use it when the drone is deployed. During an intense fight, you usually won’t have the time to drop your drone, fly it at the enemies, and then detonate the EMP. Not to mention, if you do attempt that, and your drone is destroyed, you can’t use your Ultimate until your drone is ready again. To fix this, I think Crypto should also be able to use his EMP while his Drone is on his back. If this were possible, you could use it to charge at enemies while activating your Ult, or activate it if they manage to get inside the building you are holding.

I really think these changes could make Crypto a much more valuable asset to a squad, and I’d definitely pick him more often if he were to get some buffs like these. Let me know what you think of these ideas ‼️
