Yes I hate sky cancer. But this is not just another FU arty post. Most things including video games evolve. This game over the 12+ years has evolved as well. It now has a fairly loyal player base that has spent years of time and money. But a game can not survive with just a player base. Player bases always shrink and without new players coming in a game will die. Sometimes you have to make a major change that some will not like for the benefit of the game as a whole. Reworking arty is one of those changes. Not just a nerf or small change but a major whole sell change. Read any message board and arty is the most hated part of the game. Take the time to actually talk to a low tier player who is starting the game. One of the most often issues stated is arty and how arty causes them to stop playing the game. Honestly I can’t blame them. Try learning the game in a tier 4-6 tank and getting completely destroyed by an arty such as a leaf blower.

So how to rework arty? The easiest way would be to just remove it at this point. Figure out a value and return that amount back to players that own spg tanks. Yes there would be an outcry from a small amount of players but in a short time the community would adjust.

Option 2: this would be more difficult but remove arty from all tiers below tier 8. Most spg could be reworked to fit in a tier 8+ group. By tier 8 a player should have enough game knowledge to adjust to arty. And it would help a new player base learn the game before having to compete with arty.

Neither of these are perfect options and any option will come with its hurdles and challenges. But I argue leaving arty the way it is a worse option than not changing it in a major way.
