With the interplay between lights spotting, TDs sniping, arty sniping, and heavies and mediums doing a bit of everything; WOT is a surprisingly complex game. Personally, I can't help but wish there was a game mode with just lights, mediums, and heavies, though, without the dedicated snipers to stall gameplay. I just want to fight and not lose half my HP on approach against mandatory, invisible, TDs slowing everything down.
It's well-known that there are many, many, many players that exclusively play TD or arty snipers, though, and it would be best if all players could play together in a balanced meta. Lane-centric random battles heavily favor TDs and snipers either camping hull-down behind cover or camping behind a bush and it's pretty frustrating for an action-junkie like me. As a heavy/medium main, I feel like I'm a fish in a barrel for snipers to farm since I can only go up 1 of 3 lanes and against defender's advantage.
Rather than a light/medium/heavy-only game-mode, combining WOT's various game modes into some Supreme Grand Battle Mode could be fun. Onslaught's smaller, squad-based, groups of players spawning together with tank-select and battlefield objectives. Grand Battle's larger over-all team and map sizes. Steel Hunter's progression system, intricate maps, power-ups, and NPCs. Frontlines' repair zones, map objectives, destroyable objectives, and chargeable abilities. Expanding maps beyond Random Battle's claustrophobic lane maps would make sniping less of a sure-thing, and would give everyone else space to play without having to alter snipers specifically or limit how many can clog up a match at once.
If the default game-mode were more dynamic, sniping wouldn't be so oppressive and OP. Something alive and dynamic like a Battlefront game but without the respawns, rather than the bowling alley/shooting gallery we currently trudge through.
. . .
Also, bring back 1-shot arty damage. If not only as a Call of Duty special ability like the Frontlines abilities but with fearsome damage. Arty sniping accurately and applying debuffs is good, but I also want inaccurate arty that blasts stuff to smithereens, please.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
