This was my first tier 10 in world of tanks, and I got it before it was reworked/buffed. Needless to say I stopped playing it and went and got myself a Maus, E100 and Panzer 7. After my conquering of the German heavies I decided to go back to the IS4.
Now that I’ve been using it the past few months again it really has surprised me. It’s currently my only Soviet T10 heavy tho I plan to get the IS7 next.
The IS4 really in many situations seems more sturdy than any of the German heavies. Sure it can’t through the weight around that a Maus can’t but it’s much more diverse in its playstyle.
I run my IS4 with a turbo charger, I may try to get a bounty turbo with this battle pass to put on it I’m not sure, it’s either going on this on my Maus. But combined with clutch breaking and off-road driving crew skills it actually covers ground quite well. It may not be an Obj. 277 or IS7, but it’s faster than most heavies out there. I haven’t even grinded out field mods yet but I plan to further improve the ground resistance and get that slightly higher top speed. Maybe me spending so much into speed takes away from the super heavy aspects but I don’t think it does.
The tank already does so well in 90% of engagements so I figured why not spec into what is lacking in. The gun reload speed can be sub 9 seconds with just brothers in arms and one of the improved reloaders. This makes it a really balanced heavy tank.
I never really liked the idea of autoloaders so this tank has become my #1 choice when trying to focus on good performance.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
