Since the AMBT is such a new tank, I thought I could share my experience after 50+ battles.
I'm by no means a great player (average 1400 wn8) and don't have a progetto, and thus won't be comparing the two tanks. I also don't run food.
Main points:
Speed- Good enough, but definetely recommend a turbo.
Armor- Good, but not "russian" I think it's slightly overstated how good it is. Turret is good, combined with the gun depression it works, copoula is small, so easily protected, but only really against equal tier tanks, countless penetrations from higher tier tanks, especially with gold, even in places I thought it wouldn't pen, the "neck" or, under chin is not really a problem, at mid ranges (where I tent to stick) everyone prefers to try the copoula rather than the neck, and close ranges it doesn't usually matter. (although I did on one ocasion recieve a hit into the underside of the nose after a ricoshet from the front plate, but only once thus far) Hull: It's eh. The upper plate does auto ricoshet almost everything, but only in good positions, otherwise everyone just shoots the flat, weak, lower plate.
Gun- Mixed bag. Alpha damage is always nice (360), and penetration is also good, meaning there isn't a big need to load gold, and I often find myself not using it at all. Gun handling however seems weirdly derpy, even with vertical stabilizers, to the point I'm considering bond ones, as well as an improved aiming system. You can forget about quick follow up shots at long ranges, horrific bloom after shot. Lastly the reload time. The dpm is ok, but I always find myself wishing the first shot would reload just a bit faster to not waste dpm.
Equipment- I run turbo in the mobility slot, makes it feel very comfortable to drive, vents in the second slot for overall improvements, mainly dpm, lastly stabilizer (would run in a firepower slot if it was availible, or an upgraded one) Other equipment to consider: Coated optics, view range is 407 like this (with my current crew), so not max, improved aiming system, accuracy can be very annoying at long range, rotation mechanism (purely for accuracy) The third field mod may be very valuable on this tank to swich between long/close range setups, but I personally don't tend to use it much.
Field mods- II- Light-Alloy Mountings (faster rotation speed), IV- Improved sight (I feel raw accuracy is more important) V- Camoflage improvement, VI- Scouting slot (technically doesn't matter for vents, but I discourage running anything from the survivability class)
Crew- What is there to say that was not said countless times over and over.
Conclusion: It's a good, enjoyable tank, but not a progetto killer by any means. I think I slightly overpaid (15K), but worth it in the end.
I would like to see you share your experience, thanks for reading.
