So I was pretty surprised about this one, since no one was probably asking for this and its a major dumb down of the game overall, the beauty of wot was that it's a very easy game to start hard to play well and very very challenging to master.
The reason behind it for sure is dumb it down more to be appealing for new players and I'm against that, new players keep the game running but dumbing down the game is really not it.
Instead create a really good tutorial where you can have all important features of the game available ( cammo/crew/shell velocity/shell types / armor etc etc etc)
And if you are indeed keen on doing these kind of dumb down features then use a games played system, for example a player until he reaches, I don't know, 1k games gets to use this new outline, after 1k its back to normal, like a kid bike with the training wheels, and that would even have the added benefit of making the seal clubbers life a bit harder since the new players would have some nice advantages over them.
And I mean you could go all out on this, outlines, I don't know laser sights, some armor calculator that showed where it would be best to shoot at, go wild on the training wheels at those players with little games and then slowly take it off until they could join everyone and have a firm grasp of the game.
That way all would benefit, WOT would get more players, veteran player base could have their engaging game, and newer players would not get crushed not really knowing what happend to them.
Love the game, playing it for almost 9 years, and hope to play for 9 more at least.
Have fun!
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
