On NA and EU (not even taking into account Asia and RU) alone we just saw 40k AMBTs sold for a minimum of 11k each, of course they went for a bit more on average. But on just these 2 servers, WG raked in literal millions of dollars. Loot box gold or not, that currency has officially been used up. And that's just today.
On average, the last two tanks went for ~20k gold each, the 113 BO a bit above, and the 268 v5 a little below if not also above, after gold conversions. Again, literal millions of dollars.
The thing that blows my mind is that I personally have not witnessed this level of whaling in any other online game from such a significant percentage of the playerbase. Like, 10k and 30k AMBTS on NA and EU respectively is not a small amount of players. I'd love to know the actual numbers, but just as a blind guess I'd assume that's ~15-20% of each active playerbase? Regardless if that's a high assumption, I don't think it's too far off and that's just for one freakin tank of this event, not even including black market, Christmas sales, marathons, event sales, etc.
It does not even surprise me at all that WG is somehow one of the most profitable gaming companies in the world. But the fact that such a significant percentage of the playerbase is willing to throw the equivalent of a AAA game at a tank(even considering most already have enough premiums,) almost no questions asked and for several days straight is baffling to me.
And I say all of that as a whale, because frankly I can't even explain myself why I spend as much as I do in this game. Other than I can afford to, but that's also beside the point.
