Really grateful to wargaming for all the freebies they’ve been handing out to me recently after a period of inactivity (be it premium time or vehicles) that have kept me coming back and remain hooked on to the game .
My WoT account will turn 8 this month and for as long as i can remember WoT has been consistently putting out events (like marathons) and the other more fun events sprinkled in between where even a casual player like me stands a chance to win premium time and bonds the latter of which players can utilise to opt between two appealing choices of getting a T8 prem to grind creds with or getting decent to semi competitive T10 tanks without having to go through a god awful grind slog(not that it exists in WoT anyways).
Activity of this nature from gaijin ranges from unheard of to non existent in war thunder. I have been playing war thunder for 7 years but not once can i recall a time off the top of my head where gaijin gave away free premium time.
I remember when the covid lockdowns began and wargaming handed out half a month’s (i think?) worth of premium time to everyone.
Gaijin?:Nada
Heck i remember how sometime around the end of 2021 or 2020 gaijin collaborated with twitch streamers for twitch drops only applicable to new players(not made clear by gaijin beforehand btw) which gave 7 days premium time to anyone who activated them.
Rather than admitting their mistake and letting everyone keep the premium time they slapped all the older players with a negative 7 day premium time count, those who had no premium time prior to activation got slapped with a negative premium balance lmao, effectively making it so that buying a week’s worth of premium time would net you 0 premium time for a mistake gaijin made
WG,for all the crap they get, would most definitely not react in this way at all.
Grinding in WoT is more streamlined than ever thanks to blueprints and all the holiday discounts while WT grind gets sloggier by the minute. Spading out a higher ranked stock vehicle without caving in to outright buy all the upgrades with actual money is almost impossible to do meanwhile WoT facilitates skipping over undesirable modifications with the help of free experience.
WT’s mission marathon styled events are a huge L tier joke that require 2 weeks of mindless grinding for bone stock not even premium vehicles, grinding for which only makes sense from a collector’s standpoint.
not saying all roses and sunshine for WoT players,Both companies have their flaws but at least one company gives somewhat of a shit when it comes to player retention and tweaking the game to not make playing the game feel like a chore.
I’m glad i play both games fairly evenly (WoT has been slightly winning me over as of late)
So that I can run off to something else when i find one frustrating, but it also puts into perspective how one Company is managing their product better than the other.
The games are targeted at different audiences for sure so cannot be directly comparable but what can be compared is how they are handled by their respective producers and WG seemingly has been doing a way better job in the recent past.
Give Wargaming crap when needed but also credit where there is most certainly due.
