In this article, we’ll explore the basic structure of all maps in WoT, discuss the importance of line battles, and provide guidance on what to do after a line battle. We want to ensure you grasp the overall map structure and learn how to strategically snowball the game
1) Main Line, Middle Area, and Sub Line
In World of Tanks, most maps share a similar structure. The basic structure consists of a Main Line, a Middle Area , and a Sub Line. Behind these areas, Tank Destroyers are sniping.
2) The Importance of the Middle Area
Vehicles in the middle area often have opportunities to attack both the main line and the sub line. Moreover, a team that occupies the middle area generally has a better chance of spotting tank destroyers in the back. When your team wins on one of the two lines, the allied force in the middle area can significantly help.
The middle area is also vital when your team is on the defensive. If your team loses a line and the enemy pushes forward, securing the middle area can still provide a chance to fend off attackers.
3) Staying Vigilant in the Middle Area
The advantage of being able to attack both sides also means you may be vulnerable to attacks from either side. Additionally, the strategic value of the middle area is not lost on the enemy. If your team appears weak in the middle, enemies may try to push through and seize the advantage.
1) WoT vs Other Games
– In WoT, you can't switch targets quickly due to the time required to rotate the turret and hull.
– Because of the longest Time to Kill(TTK) metrics, you need lots of time to kill enemies, which makes it harder to deal with multiple enemies.
– Spotting system: You can't attack properly when the enemy is not spotted
2) Land Grab Game
Since vehicles can’t easily deal with multiple-angle attacks, securing safe territories for teammates to strike from different positions becomes critical. Moreover, due to the long TTK, cooperation with your teammates is vital. Securing more land means your team has ample space to attack the enemy. Lastly, the more land you control, the more opportunities you have to spot enemies.
3) The Importance of the Line Battle
In conclusion, the purpose of line battles is to secure more advantageous positions for attacking and spotting enemies. Crew skills, equipment, and the best tech tree are micro factors. The macro factor determining victory is winning the line battle or at least holding the line to take territory from the enemy while securing your own.
1) During the Line Battle
When your teammates in your line outnumber the enemy, it’s better to push. Conversely, when the enemies in your line outnumber your teammates, it’s better to hold the line.
When you have to push the line, eliminate the remaining enemies in the battlefront as quickly as possible to minimize damage from tank destroyers. Conversely, if you have to hold the line, conserve hit points as much as possible.
Although you have veteran crew members and outstanding equipment, you won’t be able to properly snowball the game if you lack situational judgment.
2) After the Line Battle
If the other line hasn’t been pushed and your teammates are successfully holding the line, it’s a good idea to push further towards the enemy base. If the enemy still holds the middle area, it’s time to take it from them.
However, if the other line has been pushed, consider the mobility of your teammates. If you're in medium tanks, it's better to rush the enemy base, however, it's better to defend the base when you're in heavy tanks.
3) Tips for TD Players
For TD players, it’s essential to remember that when your teammates win the line, you have to advance together. If you don’t support your allies with your powerful guns, your teammates’ advance might be halted by enemy TDs.
