The temptation to “seed peek” in this game is huge. I’m doing ok, but as a solo player, it’s a long grind to find a good spot on the map to settle down on. Or potentially miss out on that Maypole. Or find that kick ass narrow area where one can make a canal and central base. Or that nice little patch of Meadows touching on multiple biomes. You get what I’m saying, I’m sure.
I also understand that this is on me as well. “Just don’t do it” is a perfectly valid response to this idea. But one of the things that is preventing me from finding a group, is the concern that I’ll end up with some meta gamer that simply can’t help themselves. And I’d understand, but I’d still like to avoid it. I’d hate to be lead around by meta knowledge on a game where exploration is a key element.
And to be clear, I’m not asking it to be disabled. If I wanted to start a creative run, I’d really like to see the map prior to starting. I just think it might be a nice feature to have a hidden seed.
