To make the game more challenging, why not incorporate a Blood Moon scenario? When a blood moon rises, players cannot sleep the night away and nighttime mobs are more plentiful and riddled with starred variants.
Furthermore, if one's camp falls under siege to a raid, players are not warned and the raids are much more difficult as well. More enemies, with chances of them being starred, too. For example, if trolls raid during a blood moon, perhaps there are 4 trolls instead of 2, with chances of a couple being 1 or 2 starred. There would be an increased chance of a raid happening to keep players on the edge of their seats.
The chance of a blood moon rising could be 1 in 14 in-game days, as an example. A benefit could be up to double the amount of resources normally dropped by 'X' creature, including tamed animals. Other perk ideas are welcome
