I want to preface this post by saying that this game is absolutely amazing, and most likely the best indie game made since Minecraft in my opinion. This post isn't to criticize Valheim nor beg for the attention of devs to do my bidding, but I think everything I list here would improve the game drastically and I would like to hear what the community thinks.
Building:
– Wooden floor tiles function identical to roof pieces, preventing weathering below them
– Add biome-dependent grass roofs in 26 & 45 degree variants
– Add copper roofs in 26 & 45 degree variants (requiring the black forge to build)
– Allow building in interior cells (either before or after it is cleared of enemies), and disable smoke similar to braziers in mountain caves
– More dvergr build pieces (doors and the pier structures)
– Hotkey for disabling build snap
– Honey, resin, tar, or a new resource to coat wood and prevent weathering
– Add ropes that can be attached at two points, allowing banners or new decorations to be hung (possible zipline or rope bridge usage?)
– Resize certain black marble pieces to fit together better (archway in particular doesn't fit in well)
– Prevent crops from being planted where they will die
– Add darkwood & stone benches, black marble & stone chairs, and a stone table to provide every material with a chair, bench, and table
Combat / Character:
– Add ability to edit character appearance after creation either through in-game tools or the main menu (this includes skin tone and maybe gender, which I don't think the ashlands update was planning on adding)
– Add a few new body shapes or sliders
– Minor increase in base stamina value
– MASSIVE increase for stamina regeneration rate
– Decrease time after stamina is drained in which stamina does not regenerate
– Increase amount of stamina gained from ALL food sources
– Change health regen to work at a constant rate like stamina, rather than healing the player in segments
– Dual wielding one-handed weapons pls
– Fix the AI quirk that causes certain enemies to indefinitely run away after attacking you if you pursue them (graydwarves & fuling do this a lot)
– Allow enemies with shields like skeletons and fuling to use them
– Add "active" and "passive" aggressors when the player is attacked by multiple enemies, like you see in many other games. When attacked by a large group, one or two will assume the "active" role and charge the player, while the rest will stay back and lob projectiles if they can or just idle. Certain "horde" enemies could ignore this rule like boars, bats, or ticks
– Douse an ignited entity if it enters water
– Maybe rebalance weapon categories? (sword is a bit too strong)
Other:
– Allow the cart to be attached to tamed, saddled lox
– Allow seated players in the longboat to use oars to speed up the ship
– Provide means of acquiring dvergr extractor without angering the dvergr
– Sap extractor can be used to permanently remove liquid tar in the plains and convert it to usable tar (removes growth spawns as well)
– Fix ladders so player doesn't jump up each step or catch air going down
– Add small chance for fenris hair to drop from fenrings, ulv, and cultists
– Guarantee red jute to drop from curtains in mountain caves
– Add a crafting recipe for chains
– Personal preference, but I'd like to see more traditional viking clothing with pelts & hide added to the ashlands update rather than the royal garb we've seen so far
That's all I can think of. My only actual complaint with Valheim is the existing stamina system, the ridiculously slow regen rate forces very passive combat and can halt it altogether once you hit 0. I'm aware that a lot of these things can be added with mods and even more have already been suggested by everyone but I just wanted to put all my thoughts out there, and I hope the devs do see this.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
