I know a few Dev's read posts here on reddit. If i could take a little bit of your time, that would be nice.
I feel IG is once again set up to miss a chance to make fishing fun. There have been many updates, and fishing has always been on the back burner.
If you guys do anything with the Ocean Biome, then maybe something substantial will happen with fishing. But for now IMO you are getting ready to take away some of the fun….
The crafting requirements for bait should not change at all.
The fun with making the bait is getting the fish and trophies needed to make bait for the next biome.
Upgrades for both Fishing Rod and Harpoon are really needed.
Something that would help with stamina or make the line stronger or the rod better is one suggestion. Serpent Scales for strength or Chitin for durability.
Make certain fish useful.
Tetra: for some kind of special buff for magic
Pufferfish: to make bolts poisonous
Dried Perch and Pike: as an ingredient that adds time / points to food. So Fish Wraps are 20min by adding dried fish, you could raise the time to MAX at 25min.
Building a drying rack
Using Ancient Bark is one suggestion
The Hat and the new mechanics you are testing in PTR sound great, and i do hope it works out. The fish should fight back. I do hope the hat comes with a stamina buff of some kind.
