Fortnite, Common Materials, and You.

Which resources you are flooded or starved on is largely due to the particular schematics you use. But how much you farm and how many side missions you collect in map also affect this.

To help people manage this better I'm dropping this here for ya to reference :D. Just covering the main materials here. Left a few niche or unnecessary materials off the list for now. Hope it helps :D.

Rarity matters!!: Rarity will slightly increase even base resource cost. It's usually 1-3 extra between rare and legendary. Example: building 10 Legendary Wall Launchers would cost 30 more planks and rough ore than building 10 uncommon Wall Launchers!

Planks: Obtained by smashing trees, completing side missions, collecting plank piles, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Darts, Launchers, Lights, Wooden Spikes
  • Ceiling Traps: None
  • Floor Traps: Launchers, Wooden Spikes, Patrol Wards
  • Shotguns
  • Axes, Spears, Sycthes, Clubs, Hardware

Nuts and Bolts Obtained by smashing things with moving parts, collecting metal wire rolls, collecting pipe piles, completing side missions, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Dynamo
  • Ceiling Traps: ALL!
  • Floor Traps: Launcher, Metal Spikes, Patrol Ward
  • Crafting Ammo

Mechanical Parts: Obtained by smashing things with moving parts, completing side missions, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Darts and Lights
  • Ceiling Traps: Zappers
  • Floor Traps: Metal Spikes
  • Assault weapons
  • Snipers
  • Explosive Weapons

Twine: Obtained by smashing trees, completing side missions, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Darts, Wooden Spikes
  • Ceiling Traps: None
  • Floor Traps: Wooden Spikes
  • Pistols
  • Axes, Spears, Sycthes, Clubs, Hardware

Powders: Found by smashing rocks, completing side quests, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Dynamo, Launcher
  • Ceiling Traps: Electric Field, Gas
  • Floor Traps: Launcher
  • Shotguns
  • Swords

Rough Ore: Obtained by smashing rocks, side missions, and expeditions.

  • Wall Traps: Dynamo, Launcher
  • Ceiling Traps: Electric Field
  • Floor Traps: Metal Spikes

Quartz: Obtained by smashing Quartz in caves, completing side missions, and expeditions.

  • Wall Light Traps
  • Patrol Wards
  • Super later game Crystal Weapons

So you can see that someone using shotguns, Wall Darts, and wooden spike floor traps will likely run low on planks but be fine on nuts and bolts. However someone using Wall Dynamos, Metal Floor Spikes, and high rate of fire weapons would be running out of nut and bolts instead.

Ideally you'd want to find some sort of balance and use all resources. Hope this helps for that :D.
