As if Tarkov didn't already give reason enough to have your keister tightened at all times, I may have just found another way to successfully survive gun fights all while psychologically toying with your opponent.
*The catch*
It involves leaving your opponent alive.
*The torment*
If you catch an opponent off-guard and can engage first, do so.
If you do not drop them in this first encounter, they will likely head for cover and/or a better angle to assess the situation.
This is where the psychological gameplay begins!
For your opponent, they will likely assume one of three things:
01) You will play aggressively and reengage quickly.
02) You will maintain your superior position and wait for them to reappear.
03) You will maneuver to another firing position.
However, you choose option "04":
Disengage entirely, leaving the area quickly and quietly.
Your opponent will now be caught in a psychologically tormenting position where the options are to wait and wait and wait (for nothing to happen because you are long gone), or muster the courage to venture out again (knowing the likelihood of a predator (you) being nearby is high).
I've done this on Woods a few times and Interchange once. For some reason, the thought of another PMC on edge and confused is hilarious to me.
I also enjoy knowing that they will be all the more relieved to have made it to extract (if they manage to still do so), invigorated by the notion that the raid could have assuredly ended on a different note.
If you have any funny/interesting/different tactics like this, please share!
I love EOT because there is literally no "correct" way to play at this time, and the "strats" used are infinitely varied. Any play-style can find success.
Variety is the spice of life. Spice it up!
