Since the mistlands introduced players to magic, I was hoping that we could use it to revolutionize farming. The largest downside to farming late game (other than the fact we can’t just semi automate it like livestock farms) is that early/mid game crops (carrots, turnips, and onions) require a seed plant phase to produce more seeds to grow more crops, unlike late game crops which can immediately be replanted to produce more crops.
My idea is that once we gain access to refined eitr we will unlock the recipe to craft the seed extractor. This machine would work similar to the windmill where you load it up with crops that have a seed form (for obvious reasons crops like flax and barley wouldn’t work in this machine) and over time it will produce seeds for that crop at the same rate a seed plant would. This would make farming these crops more viable late game since they would produce at a similar rate to plains and mistland crops.
Furthermore, the seed extractor could also be used to produce seeds for plants that are normally only forgeable. Raspberries, blueberries, and cloudberries would become plantable bushes with the cultivator once their seeds were extracted and would regrow their berries at the same rate as their wild counterparts (however, similar to flax and barley, cloudberries can only be planted in the plains).
This would also make thistle, yellow mushrooms, and red mushrooms plantable once their seeds/spores were extracted by the machine.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
