I've realized a sort of pattern with the mobs in the different biomes. Almost every biome has a big mob of some sort. Dark Forest = Troll, Swamp = Abominations, Mountains = Golems, and The Plains have the brutes. The only biome that doesn't have a big mob is the Meadows and I think a bear would be a good addition.
It wont be able to one shot the player, slow, easy to crouch past, and it'll only be as tall as the player instead of the hulking masses the other big mobs are. These things are put in place so the Meadows still feel like a comfy starting area with a bit of extra challenge. I'm obviously not a game dev so the balance can be tweaked however much it needs to be
It could also drop hide which can be used for a cloak or a rug, and bear fat which could be used in cooking recipes or an alternative fuel which make them last longer. Obviously it would drop meat and a trophy as well.
One of the more of the crazier ideas I had was the hide could be crafted into a new furniture item "The Bear Bed." It'll be smaller than a Dragon bed but bigger than the standard one but it would still have one comfort. You would need bronze to build it along with some other higher tier materials but this could help with the huge gap between a standard bed to a Dragon bed which will add a little more of a sense of progression. Again this bed is a weird idea that's just a side thought more than anything.
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
