Ideas for improving Valheim

Just finished my first playthrough of Valheim, and I really enjoy the game.

Here are some concepts I think could help improve the overall quality of the game.

– ITEMS –

– Add "Item Slots" to chests, assign a designated item to a chest slot (Think of it like a ghost item that is at 0), then when your character gets within proximity of that chest, it will auto deposit that specific item into the chest. Hopefully this will cut down on the large amount of item management that is currently in the game.

– Pull items from chests in proximity when at crafting stations. Similar to how Grounded does this, another way to cut down on the heavy item management currently in the game.

– Add dedicated "Equipment" slots to inventory. Head, Chest, Legs, Back, Accessories, Tools.

– Give "Heavy Armor" pieces the ability to increase carry capacity. This will give Heavy armor more utility on par with its Medium Armor cousins.

– Add an upgraded version of the Fermenter that makes potions faster.

– GAMEPLAY –

– Remove Rain from Swamp zone, or have an item the player can equip to counter rain. The challenge in the swamp can then be more about avoiding bodies of water throughout the swamp, giving the player more control over there situation, while still retaining water everywhere to punish the player if they're not aware of there surroundings.

– Add "Mist Beacons" to Dvergr towers. You can consume a Mistlight into a tower to act as a "lighthouse" to clear away a large amount of mist.

– Make the "Elder" and "Moder" forsaken abilities passive. The time you can make use/cooldown for these two specific abilities are too short/long for the specific utility they provide.

– Add a "Cooking" Skill. Skill provides small increase to Health and Stamina (and possibly Time?) per level. Skill gains XP per item cooked. For example: Wolf Jerky provides 33 Health and Stamina base, at 20 Cooking skill, it will provide 43 health and stamina (0.5 per level).

– ENEMIES –

– The Queen, for the boss fight, remove Seekers from the fight entirely. Add more Broodlings overall. Give the player the ability to destroy the wall hives that spawn Broodlings throughout the arena. Keep the Queens ability to spawn more. I feel like this is a good compromise for keeping that "Insect horde" gimmick Iron Gate was going for with the Queen boss, while giving different playstyles more flexibility for this fight.

– UI –

– Add the ability to color makers.

– Make the most recent death marker Red. Hopefully this will help out with consistent deaths in the same area, make it easier to find your equipment.

These are just a few concepts I had running through my head. Curious what others think 🙂
