I made a mod for me and my friends it changes how skill loss on death is handled.
You now have an extra skill level, a fortified skill level, which increases slower than vanilla Valheim. It's only effect is that when you die your skills each reset to their fortified level instead of just falling by 5%. Gaining a lot of normal levels without dying boosts the speed at which you gain fortified levels.
Depending on how often you die it will usually take longer to get the fortified level to 90 and a lot longer to get it to 100 than in the base game.
I personally like this as I don't feel frustrated when I die a few times unnecessarily in short succession but my no skill drain has ended. Also it stops skills you don't use much withering away if you don't train them. It can still be quite punishing to die as you can now lose a lot more than 5% of your level if you haven't died for a while and dying will slow your progress in gaining fortified levels.
Would anyone use this mod? Is there any point in me polishing and releasing it?
