I see a lot of guides posted here that seem to go over the same general information and starter tips for newcomers. While it is helpful, I feel like if you read one, you read them all. Then they still wind up not knowing how to do some things or that you could even do something.
I figured I'd drop a few tips for newcomers that I see regularly left out or aren't really detailed well enough for a newcomer to just start using.
With this guide, I'm assuming you know the basics
Feel free to correct or add points to this. I'm not an expert by any means. Just needed to clarify stuff that I saw as a newcomer that took me forever to figure out.
Look at your gun in your inventory. It has the ammo type it needs listed on it (e.g 7.62x39mm). If you want to know how effective the bullets you just picked up are, go to this link. Green is good. Red is bad. Higher number good. Lower number bad. You get the gist.

Right click your gun (or mag). Select "Linked Search". On the left-hand side, you'll see an ammo drop-down. This is the ammo that works with that gun (or mag).
Second verse, same as the first. Select "Linked Search" on your gun. You'll see a giant list of things that can go on your gun. This gets a tad more difficult when you factor in sights that can go on certain attachments but not directly on your gun. But this is a good place to start.
I find mapgenie is the most helpful for me. It's not perfect, it doesn't have every map, and it's a twinge too populated at times. But, it does have filters, spawns, and extracts. The link below takes you straight to the customs map. You'll probably go there first, let's be honest.

The game has missions. Grab them by clicking on a trader and selecting "Tasks" towards the top. You can tell if they have new ones if their portrait has a green check mark.
If you can't find your daily/weekly quests in your list of active tasks. Switch to "Operational Tasks" at the top of the page.
If something in your inventory has a gold check mark in the bottom right hand corner, don't sell it (or sell it, I'm not your mother). If you hover over it, it tells you the active quest it can be turned in to.
Watch a YouTube video about it if you want to know what every item does and when to use it. I'm just here to let you know you get XP if you heal yourself out of raid instead of letting Therapist do it for you.
If you die in raid, and you put something in your container that needs to be turned in for a quest, it won't count as Found in Raid. Only do this if you know the item doesn't need to be Found in Raid.
Want to make a gun build without buying the parts? Go to presets and search for the gun. You can put whatever you want on there* then save it for future reference.
This is an addition to number 9. It you saved a preset, you can open it back up and hit "Find Parts" in the upper left hand corner. It will let you buy every piece needed to make that gun and saves you from having to go manually find everything.
Once you have all the parts. There's a puzzle icon on the preset page where you can just instantly assemble the preset.
I'll end this here. Feel free to add more.
