Non-“hostile” mobs aggro

Anyone else really like this game but wonder why random animals have a problem with piles of wood (i.e. workbenches, boats, etc)? It doesn't make sense why a big lizard would bite wood, how do they know it's something foreign? They don't attack the existing structures. And why do boars care either? And the lox? They're pretty much a big cow, why would they care about destroying anything since they don't really have any natural predators? Why would they care about attacking anything? And why would they be so adamant on getting to you? Just had a lox aggro on my workbench and destroymy boat, forcing me to swim across a ~100 meter canal to get to my tree house, only for it to follow me and destroy every workbench I had set up on my island and allow a couple of the phantom things to spawn lol thank God it was a tree house and it only took out some of my staircase and not my whole base, but still, I don't understand the insistence on destroying our bases from the developers. And then punishing you for rebuilding by constant raids, which furthers the process. Just feels like they're adding tedium rather than tasks imo
