Overcoming Gear Fear – a “Guide”

Good Day,

since the new wipe there are a fair share of new players in tarkov. First i want to welcome you, tarkov is an unfogiving place. Follow the instructions of jaeger to become a real hunter 🙂

First of all, i want to explain something to you. it is not necessary to play like a chad nor a rat. find your own playstyle and choose the right maps fitting your playstyle. there is no such thing like rat or chad. they all drop like fly´s under the right circumstances.

So what is gear fear?

Loosing high quality gear.

What can we do do avoid gear fear? Gear fear is rising the lower your rubel count is. if you have 70mil on your bank there is no gear fear. you are just angry that you have to kit yourself again.

i was gear fearing as well but i found a way which completely negated it for me. im by no means a hyper chad / rat / whatever kind of dude. just a normal guy who plays video games after work.

For me the important point was to learn that roubels mean nothing. nothing at all. the important thing is the hideout and that you get your quests done. but how can you say rouble means nothing? are roubles a joke to me? no. you sure need them but the higher your hideout the more roubles you can make through crafting or bitcoin mining. when you see how fast you get that rouble back you just lost on the raid you will see how important they really are. also this can spiral out of control when you have successful raids because you choose to get your best gear out there and survive 5 raids in a row. then you will have 10 mil or more. this also works backwards. if you go into raid all the time with budget shit gear you will loose that and will loose even more every raid till the day comes where you will be broke while you tried to gain something with budget gear.

its just a mindset thing. its like learning to swim, you just need to know that you can swim if you do it right. have no fear. go out and conquer them.

so for a quick and dirty guide how you could start. Take your mediocre gear you have and avoid pvp heavy maps like customs, factory, "labs", shoreline resort, sawmill / Usec camps on woods for example. also, do your quests. if you hit lvl 42 and have everything available from traders your kits will be MUCH cheaper. Hideout and quests is the important thing.

remember, this i my point of view, for you gear fear could have a different cause.

i wish you could luck, dont join random lobbies they gonna kill you instantly.
