Performance ‘fix’ for new players struggling with sub 60 FPS

I've noticed multiple posts pop up recently regarding sub optimal performance on decent rigs. Vast majority of the posts are being created by people who just bought the game. I decided to type up a very brief guide on how to ensure best possible performance.

So first of all let's start with the graphics setting itself. Below is a screenshot of my settings ( since my game barely ever drops below 60 FPS and mostly stays at around 80 – 110 ). I've tested every single setting throughout hundreds ( if not thousends ) of hours of playing the game and these settings are the most optimal I came up with ( at least for me… )

In my opinion these settings provide best graphical fidelity and performance compromise. You may tweak Object LOD quality higher to reduce pop-in but remember that it does tank the FPS quiet significantly.

Now let's talk about bugs that have been found by players that tank your FPS massively:

  • Fullscreen / Borderless bug – The game switches to borderless even if 'fullscreen' is displayed as the currently used option. That affects the FPS and stuttering massively. To make sure that your game runs in proper fullscreen everytime you go into a raid follow these steps:
    • Go into your graphics settings.
    • Make sure that 'Fullscreen' is selected.
    • Press 'Save' in your bottom right corner.
    • Since this does not work everytime for me for some reason here is a failsafe: Go to graphical options, change to borderless, save the settings, go back to your graphical options and change to fullscren and save the settings again.
    • Easiest way to make sure that you're in fact in fullscreen is to alt + tab into a different window. If the game minimzed that means it's fullscreen, if it stays in the background it's borderless.
  • Secondary display bug – Many people reported that the game runs badly with two monitor setup due to some refresh rate problems. Not sure what's this bug exactly since it never happened to me but it does affect your performance. I have encountered a bug in which where I plug in my second display the game switches to 4k even though non of my displays supports resolution that high so just make sure this does not happen to you. Honestly the best way to deal with thes bugs is to physicaly unplug your secondary display.

So that sums it up. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Also make sure that your game is on an SSD. It has HUGE impact on your overall loading times and performance.
