These are all little things I learned from my time as a USMC infantryman, and do actually help a good bit in this game.
Currently maintain an above 50% SR at lvl 30
1- Peek from the SIDE of cover, not OVER
Peeking OVER cover exposes you 360 degrees where as peeking from the SIDE of cover, keeps you far more covered
Additionally, peeking over cover causes you to silhouette yourself- a helmet/head outline is almost immediately recognizable, but peeking from the side prevents this silhouetting as your outline is much more likely to be "lost" among the background
2- USEC default is the best clothing (haven't played BEAR so not sure their options)
As cool as it may be to wear other clothes, USEC default will give you the best concealment.
Indoors, sure, the others aren't bad. But anytime you are outside, you want to be wearing those greens
This game is one of few where character models are NOT artificially outlined, so wearing the right clothing/equipment makes you VERY hard to spot
3- Move amongst the shadows
Especially on a maps like woods, taking paths that keep you in the shadows of the trees makes you stand out MUCH less compared to runnin about in the Sun
4- Move slow, and take pauses
Again, its actually VERY easy to blend into the environment in this game. The BIGGEST giveaway is going to be movement, so move slow (appropriate to your situation). Sprint across open areas, of course, but the denser and tighter the foliage/cover is, the slower you should move.
Take pauses periodically, as its MUCH easier to spot movement when you, yourself, are not moving, and also lets you hear your immediate surroundings.
Reducing movement speed also keeps you from sticking out and makes you MUCH harder to find.
5- ALWAYS wear some sort of face covering
A constant of my notes is that concealment is effective and important in this game. As in IRL< your skin color stands out. Wear a half mask, baclava, or SOMETHING such that you minimize how much of your face is exposed (Ive literally spotted people because their uncovered faces stood out)
Hopefully following these small tips will help boost player's Survival Rates
