I keep thinking that there should be more downtime activities in this game, something you can do in between expeditions that nonetheless provide some kind of benefit. After all we spend so much time building our homes, we ought to have more to do while we're there. There's already food/drink preparation, which is fantastic, and homemaking. But I feel that it's missing entertainment. Obviously storytelling would be one option, but it would be difficult to create a mechanic for that IMO. Games with cards and dice would seem to be a logical choice then, and since most of these games are about chance, and luck, increasing your luck in the world would seem to be the best use of this mechanic.
I'd also love to see musical instruments in this game, and set them up to allow preset songs that sync up when played together as in Sea of Theives, programmable songs that require sheet music like in Archeage, and freestyle music, that you can play together with others, or just on your own. I'm not sure what the benefits of this would be in the rest of the world, I just really like making music. Maybe faster movement, to simulate how time seems to pass more quickly when you're listening to good music? Maybe make buffs last longer?
What do you think? Anything to add? Any other downtime activities you'd like to see?
