The Ultimate Guide to Sabotage

Sabotage is an ability living or dead Impostors can use to make Crewmates harder to complete tasks, see correctly, or distract them from tasks and possibly dead bodies with timed sabotages!

I will list all the sabotages:

Oxygen Depletion (The Skeld – MIRA) – Sabotage on The Skeld and MIRA HQ. In The Skeld you have to enter a 5-digit code in both O2 and Admin within 30s to fix the sabotage. On MIRA HQ you have to enter a 5-digit code in both Greenhouse and the hallway between Launchpad and MedBay within 45s to fix the sabotage. If there are 3 players and you are the Impostor, you can just finish one of them off easily, and with 2 Impostors you and the other Impostor can be at the same location to double kill (best), or kill in separate locations (risky). It is possible to fix the sabotage by yourself (on The Skeld) by going to Admin and then O2 and entering the same code in both places, or vice versa. It’s hard on MIRA HQ because the hallway and Greenhouse are in near opposite sides of the map (Greenhouse at the top, the hallway at the bottom of the map), which splits up the crew and also makes it easier to kill in places like Reactor and Laboratory, since nobody in their right mind would pass through Decontamination during an O2 sabotage (unless they are trying to do tasks, but that's my point. Finish them off), so there isn't going to be that many people in Laboratory or Reactor. And speaking of Reactor…

Reactor Meltdown (The Skeld – MIRA), Reset Seismic Stabilizers (Polus) – Similar to the Oxygen Depletion (in the way that the timer for The Skeld and MIRA HQ is 30 and 45, respectively), but it is simpler to resolve. Instead of having to type in a code, you just have to press the hand on either side of Reactor and wait for someone else to come and fix it. It seems a lot simpler, but the catch is that in the Oxygen Depletion sabotage you can fix it all by yourself on The Skeld (and possibly MIRA HQ if you vent from Greenhouse to MedBay, then walk left into the hallway and fix it like that, but why would you do that as Impostor?!), but in Reactor Meltdown there has to be two people. On The Skeld and MIRA HQ this is a better sabotage than Oxygen Depletion for their own reasons, for The Skeld being that Reactor is farther from the Emergency Button than either O2 or Admin, and for MIRA HQ being that to go to Reactor you need to pass through Decontamination, which buys you some extra time if you are 1 Impostor on 3 players or one of 2 Impostors on 6 if there is a high kill cooldown. Even if the Crewmates end up fixing the Reactor, it would make your kill cooldown lower and on The Skeld you can close the Upper and Lower Engine doors (and on 2 Impostors have one of you go up towards MedBay, and one of you down towards Electrical, then finish one Crewmate apiece), and for MIRA HQ you should vent, even though your kill cooldown doesn’t go down in vents, it will give you a head start on the Crewmates if you are the lone Impostor, for 2 Impostors with 6 players it’s a bit complicated. Oxygen Depletion in this case can be better, as it separates the Crewmates rather than keeps them in the same room. There is also a variant on Polus called Reset Seismic Stabilizers, but unlike the other maps the timer is 60 seconds (possibly due to the map’s large size), and they are not fixed in the same room. It makes it easy for double kill wins on 6 players with 2 Impostors, as long as you are fast to kill and know when your Impostor partner finishes someone off in the other room (there is a feature, if the kill button flashes to 1 and then quickly flashes back, it means they killed someone). That’s when you know you need to kill immediately to avoid possible reports. Or it might be easier to kill in the same location, which is less risky. But Crewmates can still see everything, at least to the field of their vision, in these two sabotages, right? Well, there’s a sabotage that doesn’t…

Fix Lights (The Skeld – MIRA HQ – Polus) This sabotage, fixed in Electrical on The Skeld and Polus, and fixed in Office on MIRA HQ, is completely different from the other two, which does not affect the ability to see or do tasks at all, but just has a timer. This is the complete opposite. On both of the sabotages above, a dead body report stops it from happening (possibly so there is no glitch where the timer runs out and the Impostors win mid-meeting). However, there is no timer for Fix Lights, it just makes it harder to see. An Impostor tip is that this is great for a stack kill, pile yourself into a group and finish someone off if there are 4 or more people standing there. Most likely nobody will know who did it, due to there being so many people there. You can also double-kill if one of the people there is the other Impostor and there are up to 5 people there including you and the other Impostor, getting 2 Crewmates killed, and you can both blame the remaining person (if there are any). A Crewmate tip is to turn on Security Cameras. Another Impostor tip is that you can turn off the lights when Crewmates are trying to turn it back on, but this isn’t great for end-game sabotages because it freezes your kill cooldown. Fix Lights is better for a beginning or middle-game sabotage. (WARNING: Check the settings before using this sabotage! Crewmates still have a circle of vision, and how much they see is directly proportional to the Crewmate vision in the settings! A high vision like 5x won’t affect their vision at all!) A Crewmate tip is that Security cameras will be unaffected by the Lights sabotage, which I think makes no sense but is a cool feature to catch Impostors. I can’t believe Fix Lights doesn’t disable Security cameras, but you know a sabotage that does?

Comms Sabotaged (The Skeld – MIRA HQ – Polus) This. Is. The. Most. Underrated. Sabotage. Ever. Like, I can’t believe almost nobody uses it. It disables a lot of things, like Admin (on all three maps), Security (on The Skeld and Polus), Doorlog (MIRA HQ), and Vitals (Polus). It also disables the task bar, which can be useful for the Impostor if Swipe Card is a common task, and Crewmates cannot confirm they are the Impostor because the task bar doesn’t work when Comms were sabotaged. It’s also extremely hard to fix on The Skeld and Polus, and even harder on MIRA HQ. On MIRA HQ, it requires two people to be at separate locations, Communications and Office, and to enter the code at one location within 10 seconds after someone entered the code in the other one. For MIRA HQ it can be a powerful end-game sabotage, and you can just guard the Emergency Meeting button and wait for a Crewmate to come and kill them. Same with 6 players with 2 Impostors, one of you can be in Comms and one of you in Office, or maybe both of you in the same place. Once again, the latter is proven to be safer and less risky, since the kill button’s feature is kind of hard to notice and you need a good eye.

All right, these are some tips with the sabotages. I have some miscellaneous tips here:

  • After sabotaging on Polus, you can still close doors, so close all the doors to make it harder for Crewmates to get there, buying some time. This works especially well with Fix Lights on Polus, so sabotage the doors of O2, Electrical, Storage, and possibly the others as well. Even if Crewmates (or Impostors) can open them, it takes time, which is an important asset in the game and especially with the timed sabotage Reset Seismic Stabilizers. On The Skeld this is a bad idea, because you can’t close doors during a sabotage.
  • On The Skeld and Polus, the way to fix a Comms Sabotage is to turn the wheel slowly and see where the red light blinks. Keep the wheel turned there for a while, and Comms will be fixed.
  • You can technically fix Comms on MIRA HQ by yourself, but you have to have a fast player speed and be lucky enough to get an easy-to-type code. It’s not easy to run from Office to Comms in 10 seconds, but if you’re in a pickle, trying this is better than nothing.
  • Speaking of being in a pickle, when you enter a 5-digit code for Oxygen Depletion on The Skeld and MIRA HQ or Comms on MIRA HQ, you can skip the zeroes at the beginning, so if you’re lucky enough to have the code be 00009, you can just type in the number 9 and click the green check mark, which is right below the 9!
  • Always fix timed sabotages. You may think “someone else will do it” but what if everyone else in the lobby thinks the same thing? Be a good Crewmate and do what you gotta do.

I hope this helps!
