At the early stage of the game you craft a wooden club. Then you have to get all the way to the plains biome for your viking to go "Eureka!" and to discover the Porcupine as a spiky version of the mace.
I would love for the low-tier wooden club to get a pointy upgrade as soon as you craft the first iron nails. It doesn't have to (and probably shouldn't) be able to compete with any of the iron-tier weapons imo, since blunt damage is already very strong in the accompanying swamp biome and making it more accessible than the iron mace would feel a bit 'dull'. Adding a little pierce damage to the wooden club could – for my taste – just show a little more added love and appreciation to the ever-present Greydwarves.
I would like it logically though, since it also means you keep improving on your most basic designs and it would fit with the logical progression of an idea, making the Porcupine tie in better from a logical standpoint later on.
What do you think?
Not being able to craft them sucks. Especially when everyone I talk to about it…
