I had idea for a mod a few days ago and I cant get it out of my head, but I'm not sure if its possible so I want to ask people who are experienced if they think I could do it.
Here's the idea: a mod where you can start a character for ValheimFG (FG = Forgotten Gods), which would lock that character to the ValheimFG world.
The Forgotten Gods world would be a world with loads of structures, towns, ruins, etc. to explore and there would be people (using Haldor/Hugins dialog mechanics.) with quests in towns and such. I think it would be cool to take requests from the community for questlines, i.e. if someone wanted a quest where there's a person that wants your help to find a dog named Ruger I could put that somewhere for them.
I was thinking for the world I could just use a selected seed and build all the stuff on it in debugmode using vanilla assets to keep the Valheim look, Then use that for the mod, but I'm not sure if that would work.
I would want you start on a small floating island in the sky that would look something like this:
Waking up on the bed cold and damp you can't remember who you are or why you're there. You go outside and see a large crow (we would use Hugins model for this.), who is surprised to see you. You talk to the crow and it exclaims: "You must have been in there for ages! because I have been sitting there for ages and they didn't see you go in there… wait why was I sitting here?"
and so on, but I'm not going to bore you with all the dialog. This crow would become your companion for the rest of the time you're playing FG.
This crow will tell you that you should jump from the ledge because you seem to be stuck, and there's nothing else to do about it since your to big for them to carry. also it looks like you're floating above water so you should be fine… (seem like a reasonable idea right?) Eventually you agree and decide to jump.
You land in the water next to a small island, somehow you're fine and you swim to the island which has a small ruined fort on it which might look something like this:
You would find stuff in the fort to repair the boat.
Then you would sail to a town your crow said they saw while they were flying down. Or you could choose not to sail to the town, at this point it would be open world and you are free to choose where you go and what you do.
If you do sail to the town one of the buildings you might doc at would be a fishing house which might look like this: (it would be in a town of course)
that would have people in it who knew the people who died in the fort. (you might find out it was a troll who killed them if you explore the island.)
The fishing house would be a shop for fishing supplies and such.
There would be much more but you get the idea, I'm also concerned that I would have to wait till the full release of Valheim to make this mod or at least release updates for the mod along with when the base games updates.
TL;DR: I want to make an open world RPG mod for Valheim but I don't know how, or if I even could.
