Not sure who needs to hear this, but I just wanted to make a post letting people know that you don’t have to freak out about weapon durability so much. That you can save a lot of money just buying trash low durability guns on the flea and they work fine for their intended purpose.
I’m pretty sure weapon malfunctions are super RNG. I’ve had weapon malfunctions with 99.8/100 durability guns more than with low durability guns. To be clear that is entirely survivorship bias, because I am much more likely to run high durability guns than low ones. So my chance of encountering malfunctions is higher with higher durability guns.
That said, I just went through the AKS-74U on customs punisher quest almost exclusively buying trash AKS-74u’s on flea for 14-16k. Put a rubber butt pad, scope mount and shitty red dot, and if no muzzle device than grab the bigger AK-74 brake/compensator for -10% recoil instead of -8%. Three mags and PS ammo, boom, done.
I wish I would have done this sooner with specific gun (that I don’t like) kill quests. Shotgun Headshots on Shoreline was needlessly expensive.
That’s basically my advice. If it’s not a gun you would typically buy and run for normal raids, don’t worry about durability. You don’t really care about keeping the gun anyways, then the durability don’t matter.
