Dota is an exceptionally difficult game, and while there are resources like DotaFromZero, Slack's Tutorial, and Purge's guides, we still feel that there is a notable gap in the new player experience. This program exists to fill that gap.
With our first cycle now nearing it's end, we are now taking mentor signups for the second cycle! If you're an experienced Dota player and have a desire to take those who are new under your wing, then feel free to give our application a shot!
On the other hand, if you're only just getting into Dota or are eager to hone your skills, then signing up as Mentee might just be your way to do it! While mentee applications are not open yet, you can join our discord to stay updated!
What do we do?
This program is all about pairing a mentee and a mentor together for a 13 week "cycle" where the mentor will help the mentee grow as a player and be more than just a 'coach'. A mentor will stick with the player and take personal interest in their growth: possibly becoming friends, playing with each other, and creating a lasting bond. This is a type of arrangement that has worked wonders in other contexts, and from the first cycle, we have found it also works in Dota!
How do I join?
We have opened our applications until August 11th for mentors to apply. The application is somewhat detailed, as we have fairly high standards for our mentors to ensure that mentees receive valuable and accurate advice. In addition, the skillset we are looking for in a mentor is slightly different than what we would look for in a coach: Specifically, we want to see how well you can explain and break down fundamental Dota concepts more so than just knowing about them.
The mentor application process looks like this:
If you've been approved, you will:
For mentees, applications will open on August 18th (after we have vetted the mentor applicants) and remain open for 14 days. The mentee application process will look like this:

Join our discord whether you want to be a mentor, mentee, or just hang out as a guest. You can even apply as both a mentor and mentee (though if you become a mentor you won't be able to become a mentee again).
You can find more information about the program (rules, dates, etc) on the Cycle Information Document. I strongly recommend those interested in the program check it out!
