Some useful tips on exploration rank, LYR rank 5 200% bonus, and NPC crew share

So I was curious as to how profits/npc crew share/exploration xp work together in Odyssey and whether it has changed from horizons, plus I had always had a very fuzzy understanding of how the the NPC crew credit sink affected it all, so I ran a little experiment and just wanted to share my findings with everyone, especially all the new players in town.

TL;DR – The mechanics remain unchanged from Horizons. For those who do not know what those mechanics are and want to know more, read on.

While I was out in the boonies doing the Salvation/Aegis CG I decided to make use of my brand spanking new v1 DSS with 40% larger scan from the recent Sirius CG and go do this experiment that took my about 3-4 days in which I amassed scan data amounting to a base value of $303.8M, which was worth over $820.4M inclusive of my LYR rank 5 200% bonus.

I came back to the bubble and sold it all, taking care to record all the before-after values in credit balance, codex, and using EDDiscovery tool to check my logs as I sold each page of data, and here are the results:

  1. Exploration XP is calculated off BASE scan value, LYR or any other bonus is not accounted for, and afaik the first to discover bonus is not counted either (I may need someone to confirm this since I didn't have many first discoveries in that saturated area of space)

  2. NPC Crew share is calculated and paid AFTER accounting for base and bonus value; so they do NOT take away from your exploration XP as the full base value of your scans is credited in your codex stats. I had been fuzzy on this before, but I found some posts that confirmed this was the case in Horizons as well.

Here is where a strange thing takes place and I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if there is a bug with the crew share. I have an elite NPC crew that takes a 10% share.

By right the LYR bonus triples the value of your data (base100% + 200%= 300%), but what I've found is that with a crew member the total tally (i.e. the final profit in your pocket + the share paid to the crew) only amounts to 294%. An example of one transaction that was extracted from my logs (so that I don't have any human error introduced):

Base = $60,121,509

Final value accrued to credit balance = $162,328,096

Crew share paid (to a 10% elite) = $14,609,528

By right if I had no crew, I should have received $180,364,527, but the sum of the final amount + crew share above is only $176,937,624, where did the missing $3.4M go? Neither to my pocket or my crew's that's for sure.

Do please comment if you have insight to this.
