So, opportunity cost. For this reason I've chosen to neglect my Maxed Hideout.
Not only does it take a huge amount of resources (which could be better spent on loot runs, PvP or Questing) to build the hideout, but even when you have maxed it out you need to constantly take care of it. I think its a TIMESINK, rather than a moneypit. Sure, it is a moneypit but I think the focus should be on the time investment it takes to get more benefit out of Hideout.
– Check fuel? Buy from Flea or run Reserve basement.
– Sell the fuel container or use it for Mag case craft.
– Get stuff for Mag case craft from Flea
– Check Workbench? IF ONLY IT WASN'T LAGGY AF I'D GET MY MATERIALS FASTER FROM FLEA to start another craft
– Sell the stuff you just crafted from Workbench
– Check Medstation
– Use or sell stuff crafted from Medstation
– Put in materials to craft from medstation again
– Check bitcoin
– Sell or trade in Bitcoin
– Check Scav case
– Sell everything from Scav case or use them
– Buy from Flea moonshine or craft it yourself from Booze
– Put in materials for water collector to start the Moonshine craft chain
– Sell the newly crafted mag case
– Put in for another moonshine run
Using the time you've spent in Hideout, you could've probably came out ahead farming bosses or doing loot runs on your PMC. Next wipe I'd prefer to forgo Hideout completely, and sell every Hideout item I get on the Flea (but get Workbench lvl 1 for Presets). I dont have to check up on my Hideout after every couple raids. I already have to check Peacekeeper/Prapor/Skier for ammo after every couple runs.
Don't get me wrong, the skillboosts from Library and Air filter is nice. But I think I'm here to Chad PvP on PMC and Rat attack on Scav runs, not play Rollercoaster Tycoon. TBH, even if BSG made auto-craft queues a thing and work like a charm, I'd still prefer to neglect hideout.
