First of all this game is great. I love it. Amazing aesthetic, graphics, enemy designs, progression, etc. Outside of a few minor complaints I have about janky unpolished movement and building it really scratches a certain itch for me. The thing that kills it? Enemy awareness and spawning.
I cannot understand why developers tend to do the same things so often; Spawn enemies with near telepathic awareness of player location. This breaks down into a few different problems but I'll try to keep it simple and concise.
Enemies spawn in zones already knowing where the player is, even if they aren't actively "attacking". Meaning they wander in your general direction until they do see you. I've even tested this, hiding in certain areas or up on tall structures. Enemies will constantly spawn, walk to the same spot directly under me, then leave after a few minutes.
Enemies have extremely high awareness. It seems almost impossible to sneak up on any creature. Even with an insanely high sneak level and troll hide enemies still seem to hear or spot me from ridiculous distances.
Enemies are aware of your position even behind walls or long distances after you are spotted. This includes the dreaded "Event Spawning" enemies, whom are automatically aggressing.
These particularities of enemy awareness really kill the immersion for the game and make progressing through harder areas an absolute random nightmare of a grind. It isn't natural or predictable and comes down to an extremely short random timer between attacks. You can't do much of anything like mining in some areas because you take two swings, only to have 3 to 5 enemies spawn as if from nowhere, walk directly at you from any direction, and inevitably spot you. After that you have no choice but to run, as even hiding often doesn't deter them. I don't see the appeal or reason behind this kind of spawning but I'm open to others' opinions. I can think of a few better ways of handling enemy spawns.
