Chain Lightning Testing & Results

After reading this post, I decided to do some testing to see what data I could obtain – basically what factors could impact it. I employed the same testing strategy used here.

Validation Tests:

  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Hero Ability Damage Score? Yes
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Offense and Tech scores? Yes, both
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Survivor Squad bonuses? Yes, Ability and Melee
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage the same regardless of weapon type? Yes, although only the revolver, sword and axe were used for testing. The Vacuum Tube Bow seems to have a different formula (perhaps base) even though it shares the Chain Lightning designation in its sixth perk wording.
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage the same regardless of material (ore or crystal)? Yes
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Weapon PL? No
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Element Damage Perks? Yes (Assumed since it is element locked).
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Weapon Damage Perks? Yes
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by any Critical Damage Perks? Yes
  • Is the Chain Lightning damage affected by Hero Perks that buff weapon damage? Yes

Conclusion: Without knowing the base number assigned, it's a bit difficult to formulate a possible equation. (If I use either of the possible equations from the critical explosion goes boom formula in one of my previous posts, the base damage number could be 19). Regardless, testing shows that the Elims cause Chain Lightning damage can independently crit.
