Does Elite Dangerous have a future?

This is not intended to be a melodramatic entitled gamer post.

I am just now considering getting back into Eve Online, but I would rather get back into Elite again. That said, I don't want to do so if it is going to end up as abandonware like its console counterparts.

Is there any reason to believe that Elite is still very alive and going to continue to grow and change? Or will there likely only be perfunctory Thargoid content until the game is eventually abandoned?

Again, this is not intended to sound reactionary. I just honestly want to know what the community feels is in the pipeline.

Update: I only just found out I could transfer my old console account back to PC. Now that I have my golden Conda back, I have picked up Odyssey and will be joining you all again for better or worse. Thanks for all your feedback. Let's hope E:D stays on FDev's radar and continues to grow and evolve. o7
