I've been gone from the game for quite awhile and decided to come back and start fresh a few weeks ago. I did some minor engineering to my DBX and set out from the bubble maybe 2 weeks ago and have just arrived at the center of the galaxy in the Sag A area. My ship only jumps 41lys at a time in its current state so it took some time but I was real happy to find out that there was a station out here to sell all of my data because I hit a ton of undiscovered systems and ended up making just over $60 million.
I've never been to Colonia and it is only about 280 jumps or so from where I am now. If I get out there, will I be able do all of the normal things I do in the bubble? i.e. build a combat ship for bounties, mine, and eventually buy and engineer a better exploration ship or will I need to get back to the bubble and access the engineers there? I was thinking if I go straight to Colonia, I would buy a cheap ship for mining to help speed up gathering raw materials and then invest the money I've made exploring into a decent combat ship for bounties.
Edit: I just realized that I have the FSD blueprint pinned so I guess I can at least do that much engineering from anywhere. Still uncertain if I will be able to access Colonia engineers or not though.
