Asia is already region locked since over a year ago or two. We can choose only 4 asian servers only and "theoretically" can't add new other server.
We also have ping limit like all of you, we cannot choose servers which has over 150ms ping. In the first picture, my Seoul server is grayed out and I always cannot choose there. Sometimes singapore server became 200 ping I am sometimes unplayable there by the internet provider's routing problem.
So even if without server display limitation Asian players can't choose almost all servers I think. If I were able to choose servers below 150ms ping, I could only go to Australia(120ms), some West coast servers(around 130ms) and Russian Far East server(40ms).
I will never describe the way but there is some ways to avoid this both limitation. There is some ways to display all the other servers in the world, some are obviously legitimate and never breaks TOS. Also there is a kind of hack to avoid ping limitation, obviously it must be bannable offense.
I want to introduce my Japanese server circumstance. Tokyo server has been recently added and it helps alot, but it is fulfilled by new players, so sometimes waiting time goes crazy. Some players here Japan has very bad ping to Seoul and sometimes Singapore, so we must play on HongKong server which is a nest of filthy hackers. I hate playing there.
In my opinion:
At first, ping limitation is only bypassable by filthy hack so almost all normal players keep this rule.
Second, sever display limitation is just avoidable without breaking TOS. So it is meaningless now. Rather it has more harm than good.
For example, some players on the American western coast come to Tokyo server actually, if their server selection is Auto and in case American server is full. The European players can go to the American East coast server and vice versa. Thus American and European players can go to other region when server is full OR just go to the populated servers if it is when few players are playing on their servers.
But Asian players must play on their servers only even if their four servers are fulfilled severely OR these servers has only a few players. There are so many new players here. Actually sometimes twitch Top tarkov player is Japanese. Have you seen it? Now my loving Tarkov is the hottest game here in Japan.
And region lock is literally nothing for "Chinese hackers" they can avoid ALL LIMITATION if they want. Region lock cannot stop hackers but normal players.
