Hey all. I wanted to say thanks for everyone and the things you brought to the first post ()
I was on the fence with this game, even having purchased all the hardware for it. It sat for two weeks before I posted here.
Yesterday you guys all came in with really great stuff. Posting links and getting me set up and more than that – looking forward to another space sim.
One thing that kept coming up as I spoke with all of you was how great this community is. I have to say – you guys are right. You have a good thing here.
Anyway, that’s enough mushy stuff from an old space pirate like me. Thank you.
I loaded up the game, odyssey. That was horrible in the VR headset. But eventually figured out Horizons. That came in great. I guess I had a 4 year old account with 250k credits on it and I’m in a sidewinder. It said the station my save was in isn’t valid and so I loaded in space.
I floated there for a while. The keys on the HOTAS didn’t seem to do much but spin me and bring up guns. I had to use my keyboard while in VR? Not the HOTAS? Anyway, flying worked. Somehow I found a station and managed to supercruise there. I was button mashing for half an hour. Found some keys.
I went to dock but did t hail the station. They don’t play with trespassing. They also don’t care that they designed their stations like fish traps. Easy in.. hard out.
I suspect this gets better when you know the controls and The Who’s and what’s but it’s a good start. I had a blast floating in space. Can’t wait until I can actually fly it.
I may need to look up some control setups. Or is it normal to use the HOTAS with keyboard and mouse?
Anyway, thanks again guys. You all have sparked interested in a game I couldn’t pick up on my own.
