I have never played CSGO, i have played CS 1.6 back in the days and something called CS:S. I think i know the rules: two teams, one has bomb, different weapons, depending on previous rounds you have different amounts of money – but since CSGO made a huge step forward in terms of personal and team strategic skills(compared to 10 yrs ago), it would be safe to say that i know nothing about CSGO.
And then i saw these two graphs:
I don't play other games but dota, so i had this notion from 2016 that dota is roughly 1.5 times more popular(which it was), while in reality it is the opposite situation(and twitch views are huge). I was shocked. To me CSGO looks simpler, more physical/technical but still simpler, than complex fantasy world of dota, so in my mind it's the dota with lore and different modes and events should attract more new players, but it's not in the reality.
I am genuinely curious what's happened to CSGO in past 2-3 years?
