Im not sure on BSGs stance on this.
an actual piece of cheat software has never gotten close to any of my PCs, ive never even once been morbidly curious not even once.
But I had a video pop up on my youtube today, and it showed their tarkov settings what filter they use, people seemed fine with that but had a real problem with the NVIDIA control panel settings they use many going as far as to say its straight up cheating. Il be honest, I used to use the control panel to boost contrast and other visual brightness settings in CS:GO some years ago, I gave it a wizz in tarkov and compared to CS (which doesnt do much) the difference is massive, like full on no point wearing night vision goggles massive.
I personally dont have a problem with it, as AMD and NVIDIA both offer contrast changing effects and lets face it, nobody is playing on an intel IGPU. I personally think that its no different than someone using a 60hz monitor getting smoked by someone whos a bit more comfortable financially on a 240hz monitor.
Me an my brother (whos monitor I see a fair bit) both have 2k, 144hz 350 nits, yet he can always see more completely standard settings as the sun rises and sets near where I have my desk setup he has his in a different part of the house yet we have no hardware advantages or disadvantages and (imo) pretty decent hardware, better yet, someone whos just picked up the game only having alpha container Vs someone whos using a gamma. Its a bit hypocritical to call this cheating, given that its available to almost everyone with absolutely no paywall (seriously how many of you are playing on an intel IGPU?). What do you guys think?
Is it cheating, is it fair game? Its been a thing for years and is legal in tournament play in alot of AAA FPS games.
