Is Elite even worth it these days?

I've been playing on Xbox since the Preview days. Those early days were a huge struggle, game crashing, multi-player was impossible, and all kinds of the game failed to work; but I stuck by it as they ironed out the kinks. Off and on for years I played this game, grinding up to afford a Fed Corv, jump-conda, and even a Type-10 Miner. Even bought the TableTop RPG back when it was on KickStarter (though we haven't been able to play much of it).

But all this shit with Odyssey and the FDEV's deciding to kick console players to the curb has really shaken my love of the game. There's been some talk about account transfers and whatnot, but frankly I feel like Elite is in it's death-throws. So I'm asking this wonderful community what you all think about the current state of the game and whether or not it's worth even doing an account transfer, or just walking away?
