2nd account leveling up in Save the World:
223 hours played (9.5 days)
Power Level 57
Coming up on Canny SSD 3 (Page 9/19 on the questline)
All missions played public. Have not picked Play With Others much because I don't like the random missions.
Canny Valley is a lot calmer than Stonewood with the whole trading thing. Nobody has built a trade box and nobody has tried to box me in. I did get chased a couple times but they gave up after it became clear I wasn't interested. I haven't seen a single mission sabotage. Had 3 games where somebody tried to block turrets/T.E.D.D.Y. but it wasn't super obnoxious. I just let it slide because the mission was not in jeopardy and really, what good is it going to do me to say something?
Regular missions usually fill. Guaranteed fill if it is a Rescue the Survivors or Build the Radar with a mission alert. Anything with Pure Drops is usually also a guaranteed fill. NAE server mostly. I do switch to EU early A.M. if groups are not filling. Overall I am astonished at how many groups fill up. It was not like this when I leveled up!
No helpers for SSD progression into Canny so far. I wasn't playing prime time but I was a little surprised because Stonewood and Plankerton SSD attempts filled a lot of the time. At least got one person. The rocket mission from Plankerton and into Canny filled up, which was fun. I miss the part where the rocket groups would help each other with their first SSD in the new zone. Eh well…
I hit Ventures pretty hard to see what that was all about at low level. Getting to PL 108 zones in Ventures unlocked T4 schematic/hero evolution witout having to do Canny 6. I don't know how useful that is in practical terms because coming up with 60 Pure Drops is pretty challenging at this low level. Twice now I stopped and ran almost every Pure Drop mission I could find from Canny to Stonewood and it is still not 'enough'. Massive time investment as well. I guess PL 77 makes sense to get all the perks going on the various weapons and traps. At this point I have one hero and 4 traps to Tier 4 evolution.
Ventures is pretty nuts with helping to level up now that I am in the middle of it and seeing how things work. Having access to better rewards early is helping me get things evolved quite a bit. Also another zone to cherry pick Pure Drops, which appear to still be a pretty big hurdle to progression. I think pick axe damage isn't being 'upgraded' properly in Ventures as you progress. Coming into PL 108 I had to hit a llama 66 times to break it. With an outlander! I don't know if Ventures is using my pick axe damage from the regular game or what but it is pretty obnoxious. I have been prioritizing pick axe damage but things are definitely weird in Ventures when you first hit a new power level. The biggest problem I am having is getting my traps leveled up fast enough to be workable in Ventures. Pure Drops!!! I suppose you could just be a jerk and mooch off other players that have everything leveled up but that just isn't me. I managed to get enough traps to 106 that I don't fell like dead weight in the higher level Ventures missions.
The schematics I rely on the most are perked to rare (blue) only. I sunk what epic and legendary I found so far into my wall darts. I got the Pain Train at the tail end of last season and have since perked it energy. It is T3 PL 77 if needed but I have not upgraded the perks at all. I have not needed any other weapon so far. (following my own advice here to see if it is still valid :P) I forgot how messy this gun was. The shots go flying all over compared to many other ARs but enough hit that it doesn't matter. If I find a more accurate AR schematic I will change to it.
I remember the husks being much harder to kill and moving into a new level of missions much more difficult. I remember dying a lot in new areas last play through. That is just not the case now. I think this is from game changes mostly. I am sure on my first play through I had crap for weapons, did not fully understand survivors and in general was not optimizing things to progress, but I still say the game is way easier. Smashers in particular used to be pretty terrifying. I am afraid that is not the case anymore.
Autofill gets an upvote from me. It works well enough. I have turned it off now though because I started to find some trap durability survivors. I felt I needed the durability because part of this play through was about attempting endurance at level and durability is by far the biggest hurdle for me so far. Stonewood and Plankerton Endurance got finished. I had to do a half dozen test runs to failure (more or less) until I finished them. I had a fun time getting Plankerton Endurance finished with about 1/3 PL 77 traps and 2/3 PL 55 traps. (blue perks at best!) I hit the build limit in Plankerton but I did finish endurance, lol. I forgot how much material it takes to build out an SSD! Several hours farming to get both up and running. I pulled Archaeolo Jess from the collection book to help get the farming done with a voucher I earned in Ventures. Still missing Cassie and the Dino.
There are a lot of kids playing at low level. Not just kids, children. Too young to grasp the game mechanics and rules. I met a kid that was PL 75, running around in Plankerton, but he told me he had not yet made it into Canny. I guess he just levels up in Plankerton because he doesn't know better. He was also nice enough to plaster our objective with supercharged Ceiling Drop Traps. I had a number of interactions with really young kids playing the game. I lost whatever hostility I had toward them because I genuinely feel they are too young to be playing Save the World. Not because the content is not suitable for children, but because they aren't aware enough yet to grasp the game rules. They are just 7 year olds being 7 year olds. It is hard to judge what age they are based on voice chat but man, some of these kids sound like even 5 or 6 years old…
Missions are rife with duped traps and likely weapons. I can see the traps, but unless they are running around with Mythics I can't really tell what is up with the weapons. About 50% of the missions I have run somebody plasters PL 144 traps all over and that is that. I do see lower level traps going up so there are still some honest players out there. That said there are also a lot of players running around that have no idea about traps and simply do not use them. One kid asked me for some help building in his SSD so I hit up Fortnite DB to see what traps he had available. Answer? None. He had not leveled up any trap schematics whatsoever. Despite this he provided me with an assortment of PL 144 traps to dress out his SSD. Well, dropped them on the floor but I didn't pick them up. I just left at that point.
I forgot how long the Canny questline was but it does make the trip from Plankerton and into Twine a lot more enjoyable. I ran the Canny quests when I was max level at the time, just to get at the rewards, so that wasn't really very fun. I got a Mythic Joel survivor with trap durability! How cool is that?
Twine here we come!
