I had an idea I wanted to bounce off some fellow Commanders.
The idea of mining with a bigger ship is appealing (cargo space, multiple refineries, etc.), but in practice, it's a little clunky trying to get in there and abrasion blast off all the little deposits after you crack open an asteroid during core mining.
What if there was a type of deployable craft, like a fighter, but only equipped with abrasion blasters, that we could use for this? You could stay at a safe and convenient distance with your behemoth, launch yourself out in a "fighter", and abrasion blast off those spots for your collector limpets to take back to the ship.
What do you guys think? I think this would make mining with a big ship more fun, you could even mine in tandem with a friend, and send them out to be your "abrasion blaster" while you focus on deep core and sub-surface mining.
