My D-Day

I’m a solo player and, after 18 hours of grinding out resources on the starter island, I’ve decided to build a Karve and touch the waves like Moana.

I build my lovely boat with enough resources to get out there and set camp as well as build a portal. I hit the waves and I am excited. The Ocean notification pops up as I enter into deeper waters, but I quickly see the land where The Elder resides coming into view.

I see plenty of Black Forest and don’t want to land there cause I know I’m gonna get raided by grey dwarves frequently if I settle there, so I swing a little left and see the beautiful meadows. As a clearing comes into view I notice some MASSIVE structures. WOW, how lucky am I? A beautiful compound waiting to be restored by me on my new island!

I land the boat, hop off, and bust into the first house like I own the place. My elation turns to terror. Three Draugr (who I was yet to encounter at this point in my game) chase me out the door. The others in nearby houses start slashing through their wood enclosures. Soon I’m being chased by almost ten of these guys.

I was able to take out five before having to retreat. i found another spot down the bay to make camp, and I get to work without the Draugr bothering me. As I’m trying to build, waves of grey dwarves are harassing me. Finally I get a workbench, sleeping hut, and fire going, and I start clearing my moat area, when… “THE FOREST IS MOVING” pops up.

I battle through all the waves, and now I can finally rest, the work is done. The Draugr destroy my boat, but the war isn’t over. My new base is officially now named “Omaha Beach” following that brutal expansion sequence.

Now I hope I’m ready for The Elder.
