I'm curious what the community actually thinks. I see a lot of posts complaining about a lot of things.
And I certainly agree, things like CPU optimizations, audio, better inventory management, etc should be worked on. But are they really that big of a deal?
Performance – a 5600X for $190 can get you 110-120 fps in Customs when paired with a 3050 in 1080p or even 90-100fps in 1440p at low preset. Is this really that bad?
Audio – Yeah, it's annoying when it gets me killed. Especially around stairs. And it's annoying when sounds start playing close to you, but mid-sound they adjust to their actual distance and move further away. But how often is this a major problem really? And the thing that gets you killed is when you're around stairs. Every other time, the audio works well enough imo, at least 99% of the time.
If I had to rank features by priority, it would be:
- Remove recoil compensation / auto-control stat and rebalance recoil accordingly – this for me is one of the worst things. So many guns are unused just because of their first 1-2 round recoil, even though the recoil after that is fine. E.g. one of my favorites the MCX. And it's all because of the auto control stat. We could afford to reduce the recoil if we removed auto-control and then just rely on us controlling our own guns. While I have learned pretty well to pull down and then push back up when auto-control kicks in, it's still annoying than just pulling down and it stops others from using the MCX and other guns too, even if I'm using them. Every time I loot someone, it's an RD or something.
- Better inventory management – maybe presets / loadouts as well as marking boxes to have your items automatically sort into them. E.g. an ammo box marked as 5.56 will mean all 5.56 ammo goes straight into that box when you take it off your character, that kind of thing.
- Very slightly increase the weight at which you become overweight – I've been overweight since day 1 this wipe with a basic kit. I'm no longer equipping a melee weapon and I look at the weights of rigs (Thunderbolt ftw) and bags (usually Daypack). It's because they reduced the weight at which you become overweight by 5 kg this wipe. If they can increase it by just 2-3kg, I think it will be perfect. For me, otherwise it's impossible to train endurance. I remember at one point in the wipe, I had like 30 strength and 8 endurance… It's so difficult to build a non-overweight kit right now, at least until you reach really high levels of strength.
- Skills redesign (actually upcoming) – honestly, the skills are just bad right now, this is coming though in the upcoming wipe, so hopefully they nail it.
- Audio fixes – yep, finally, we come to audio fixes, I genuinely think the above are more important (at least for me)
- CPU optimizations – I already run customs at 200 fps. Better optimization will certainly be nice so more of my friends can play with decent performance, but it's not the end of the world. Even their old laptop CPUs (lower clock boost) are managing 60 fps.
- New content – this usually is a lower prio for me because as long as there's a bit of new content I'm fine. But honestly, it's been too long with nothing. Wasn't lightkeeper meant to be last wipe? If I didn't know they've almost finished streets, this would be higher on the list, but since I know streets and lightkeeper are basically almost here, this stays low on the list at #7
