OK, its great that we are doing a bit better now and have stemmed the rate of Thargoid expansion. Great job [insert the JCVD meme here].
However, this leads to a new dilema…
The war brought with it a huge hit in exciting gameplay (best AX ever IMO), and credit where credit's due Fdev knocked it out of the park with that one! But now that the whack-a-mole job is becoming more effective by players it means that the very gameplay that was so much of a breath of fresh air is becoming rarer, surface ports under attack are now nowhere to be seen (because they are so fun), even finding Orthruses is becoming harder.
Here's what I suggest, in line with the 'scenarios' that were introduced a few years ago (see
- Skirmishes. Even after winning a system, being at a surface port (or settlement) or orbiting stations just NEAR the front lines could spawn a scenario where the place comes under fresh attack, albeit at a slightly lesser extent than the full system under attack state…
- A way to actively hunt down Orthrus ships – e.g. scan a Thargoid probe to get intel on where to go to find one. Currently there is no player 'agency' to this, you have to go to a system in a specific state and hope the RNG gods put one in the FSS scan – I'm hardly finding any anymore.
Any other ideas to ensure the war does not now becomes stale?
Note this is in ADDITION to whatever update 15 brings, and I hope that brings a fresh resurgence that also needs on foot activities!
