So with the new update, as most of the community know by now a few new things were implemented the biggest and most controversial it seems being the new weight system.
There have been a lot of posts talking about this, and the discussion seems…. very divided. Very heated discussions all around, I personally don't think we have given it enough of a chance yet, and think we should give it a few more days at least before we all jump to conclusions. Again personally from my experience, I don't like the system, I feel it takes away from the flow and feel this game has.
I have looked through discussions and posts, and read what people are saying and the points that they are making, and I understand both sides of the argument. I bought the game summer of last year after following the game for a long time and since then have put a lot of time into it. I love the game and am a fan of games from every genre. The game in this last year has been in the best state it's ever been in from what I can see (servers can still be terrible though) and it's picked up an even bigger following in the last 6 months.
There are some people who resent this, as a lot of new players have streamed in, and content creators have started playing. This has brought in a lot of new players, and some of the OG's resent this because they feel it worsens the game and the experience for a variety of reasons, the community grows and with that toxic people join, they also don't want the devs pandering to all the "casuals" wants and needs and turning into another "Fortnite". I have seen this point made in a ton of discussions. And this really divides the community. I don't think the devs will ever let this happen though.
Now I am not going to go crazy into it or what this update encourages/discourages because there is countless other posts for that.
Regarding the new system, from what I have noticed, the majority of people are against it, and within that majority a lot of them are the meta players and the strong fps players, the guys who run around the map with high end gear looking for pvp and bosses filling their backpack with loot and gear and that's what they enjoy about the game, as well as most of the newer players which this update totally screws.
The people all for it seem to dislike the faster more generic fps type looter shooter feel. Some being heavy hardcore realism fans and that is what they enjoy about the game, not shoving 15 backpacks and rigs into your backpack to fit extra grenades ammo and meds. They like the slower approach, the more realistic feel, I understand that. There isn't many games like that, and the devs have said that is what they are aiming for.
I don't know if it is possible to please both groups though. If the game stays like it is, there are always going to be players like Worrun, jumping 15 feet and putting a mag of m995 in your head instantly. This is a hard place for the devs, It seems either way they go they will piss of a large amount of their community.
Thanks for reading if you made it through that, I just wanted to try to sum up some of the controversy of the last little while. If anyone has any thoughts about this I'd be happy to discuss them below.
