Hey guys. I’m new to the game and from briefly searching I can tell that it’s well known that burst fire is practically useless due to the recoil of the first few shots.
Full auto is something I hardly do in any games. I single fire at long range and burst of my target is closer, reserving full auto fire for if the opponent caught me off guard and is basically point blank. It’s what I’ve always done and it works in every other game. It’s basically a reflex for me to stop firing and reaquire my target once my reticle strays beyond a certain distance. From my brief time in Tarkov it’s apparent to me that this just simply won’t work in this game. If I try to burst I’m getting one shot on target and then I’m hunting ducks in the stratosphere for the rest of the burst. When my gun kicks itself into Agartha my reflex kicks in and I stop shooting for long enough to recenter my reticle, at which point my next shot is going to send my barrel back to Mars. I know the way to counter this is to just forget burst fire and just keep shooting (the gun will come back after a few shots). I’m working on training my “hey dumbass you’re missing” reflex down so I can actually do this, but in the meantime that I have absolutely zero control over my plebeian body, I was wondering what others thought about ways to get burst fire to work.
I know this has been a long-standing system and it’s probably not going to get changed, at least not soon, but I was interested in having a conversation about it and see what others think.
Do you have suggestions for how to make burst viable? Do you think the lack of burst fire viability is actually good for the game? Any other input? Let me know! I’ll leave my idea(s) in the comments.
