Weird Question: Anyone Deal W/ OCD, Perfectionism, or “Min/Maxing” When Building? Any Tips/Tricks?

Valheim Guide: How to Acquire Strongest Weapon in the Game

Long post ahead. Believe me it's still shorter than it was before.

I'm playing solo atm, 200 hrs in game (150 hrs in multiplayer).

Due to perfectionism, I have a strong tendency towards simple, utilitarian designs, with decorations at most. It's dull, and I hate that I feel so limited by myself. But trying to branch out is taking so much mental energy and time, and is causing frustration and discomfort/anxiety. It's really hindering my gameplay and enjoyment.

Ex: I've spent maybe 10 – 15 hours on my not-too-big house and I'm still not done or satisfied.

I've been checking out video and text guides, experimenting, looking at screenshots, and reading posts to expand my technical knowledge, but I also need to learn how to accept things as “good enough” so I can move on.

For ex: I'm building a path up a steep hill/cliffside via leveling and can't get a smooth gradient of course. It really just needs to be traversable with a cart (i.e. functional), but it irks and gnaws at me that it “looks like shit.”

.

So, to my actual questions:

  1. Is there anyone else who deals with these issues, and what have you used to cope with them?
  2. How do you know when a “bad” building is really bad, versus you being too perfectionistic?
  3. How do you learn to accept builds as good enough, when it keeps bothering you and you want to “fix” it?

And a bonus question: how did you learn how to build things (self-taught, videos, specific guides,) and do you have any good resources you can share?

Appreciate any input!
